Kelady commands an energetic fury, combining gritty sunbaked ink together with soap textures and rotoscoped dancing. “Papaya” is a fierce yet playful animated music video reflecting on skin whitening products promoted by the Philippine beauty industry; a combustion of colorism and the control on women’s bodies.

Kelsey Boncato is an LA-based artist and animator who works in drawing, video, and sculpture. As an independent animation director, she specializes in hand drawn illustrations that are textural, organic and emotive. With a niche in visual-music animations, she’s directed and produced music videos for local musicians. Her animation work has exhibited and screened internationally. Boncato has also worked in various film and installation art projects –animating, editing, and compositing for artists in contemporary art.
Under the moniker Kelady, her work expands to sonic and lyrical narratives of diasporic identity and time through alternative dance pop and indie r&b/hip-hop. Produced by danyo, their forthcoming music project, BABAE releases Spring 2023.
